If you want to progress spiritually, make sure you are following Knowledge, and not the person! If you really want to follow someone, follow your Guru.. your Master. It may so appear that people around you are in amazing knowledge. There are people who have read plenty of books, Upanishad's, AshtaVakra Gita, Bhagvad Gita, have done lots and lots of Meditations/Courses, people who share amazing knowledge, people who claim to have amazing experiences, who claim to have realised everything about life! - take every good thing from them. Whatever good they have.. take it. Infact all of us have something good in us, so take/imbibe all those good things that people around you have, but don't follow that person!
When I say don't follow the person, I mean, don't be fooled to assume that since he/she has done the above mentioned things, they are highly knowledgeable people! If you really want to follow someone; follow the Knowledge, follow your Master, follow your self. Our self is an amazing teacher; with awareness and Knowledge, you can learn a lot!
Have we observed? We have a typical habit of linking things? Suppose someone shares knowledge, we link that knowledge with the person, 'Ohh he/she is such a knowledgeable person!'. Wise ones know that its not the person who is amazing here.. its the Knowledge!
