People who eat Non-vegetarian food

Reflections

Human body is a gift from God. This is not something you created. It is a temple where the Divine resides. Because it is Him who gave you this body and it is He who will take away this body. So this is something that belongs to the Divine, not to you.

Let’s understand that whenever we have a choice or whenever we make a choice, we are creating a Karma — a choice of either doing something or a choice of not doing something. Eating non-vegetarian food is completely a choice. You are taking on that Karma.

People who are engaged in consuming meat, in killing animals for food, will for sure bear terrible consequences sooner or later. It is really unfortunate that people don't understand that it is only and only their Prarabdha Karma which is saving them right now. But unfortunately, whatever actions they are doing now by eating non-veg food, they are gaining very, very bad Karma which will eventually yield a painful fruit for them.

Some people say, “I don’t eat non-veg on Saturdays,” or “I avoid it on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Mondays.” But the question is — what about the other days? On those days, you are still definitely taking the flesh inside the temple — the body gifted by God. So how does it make you a smaller sinner? Is killing and consuming life acceptable on certain days and sinful only on others? This selective abstinence reflects a lack of true understanding.

While you could be very negligent about the same by saying, “Oh, I don't care, whatever will come will happen, I don't care” — it is very easy to say that — but I tell you, if you are killing and you are taking the dead flesh inside a temple, it is a big sin. Similarly, eating non-veg food and putting it in the temple (your body) gifted by God is a terrible sin. People really don't have any idea about how many lifetimes perhaps they will have to take to burn these negative Karmas.

Unfortunately, I also see my friends and colleagues relishing and enjoying non-vegetarian food, but I helplessly pray for them to make the right choice.

One of such friends shared with me that, “You know, if we don't kill animals for consuming, then their count will be so high that it will create chaos.” I just told him, “Brother, nature knows how to maintain the balance. It is only humans who have disrupted everything.”

I pray that more awareness dawns in people. And perhaps, some disease might even come up sooner after consuming some meat — hopefully by that fear, people will stop eating non-veg food.
