When was the last time you called someone for no reason?
Humanness is, unfortunately, getting lost in today's world.
All we seem to see are task-oriented relationships.
By task-oriented, I mean relationships that exist because there is some work to be done, some information to be exchanged, some favour to ask, or some benefit to gain. People get in touch because they once worked together, studied together, need a contact, want a recommendation, or have some purpose to fulfill.
For different reasons, people have stopped getting in touch with each other just for the sake of getting in touch.
How often do we simply call someone and ask, "How are you?" with no agenda behind it?
How often do we meet someone simply because we enjoy their presence?
Concern is often shown only when we come to know that something may not be right. Otherwise, life moves on, and so do our conversations.
I'm not saying this is right or wrong. I'm simply sharing how things, unfortunately, seem to be today.
Perhaps we can bring back a little more humanness into our lives.
Call someone, not because you need something.
Visit someone, not because there is work.
Send a message, not because there is an occasion.
Just let someone know that they crossed your mind.
Sometimes, the most meaningful relationships are the ones that exist without a purpose.
They exist simply because we are human.
