Kovai Kings reach TNPL Qualifier 2 after rain washes out the Eliminator

The Tamil Nadu Premier League, the state's own T20 competition, is in its playoff stage, and searches for TNPL have picked up as the title race narrows. The Eliminator between Vida Kovai Kings and iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans was abandoned because of rain in Chennai before a result could be reached.

Under the tournament's playoff rules, the better-placed side in the league table goes through when a knockout game cannot be completed. Kovai Kings finished ahead of Tiruppur in the standings, so they advanced to Qualifier 2 while Tiruppur's season ended without a defeat on the field.

Siechem Madurai Panthers had already booked their spot in the final by winning Qualifier 1. Qualifier 2 decides who joins them, with the winner of that match playing for the title. Rain has shaped much of this playoff week, and washouts remain a factor for the remaining fixtures.
