WhatsApp is testing a fourth pinned message slot in chats and groups

WhatsApp currently lets you pin up to three messages to the top of a chat. WABetaInfo reports that a recent Android beta build raises that limit to four, in both one-to-one chats and groups.

The extra slot is mostly useful in busy groups, where three pins fill up quickly. Right now, pinning something new in a full group means unpinning something else first. With four slots, a family group juggling a couple of event details and a payment reminder does not have to keep swapping. The tracker says the fourth pin behaves exactly like the existing ones, including the option to cycle through pinned messages from the bar at the top of the chat, and that group admins can still control who is allowed to pin.

This was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.35.8 and is reaching only some beta testers so far. WhatsApp has not said when, or whether, it will reach the stable version everyone uses. Features seen in beta can change before release, or be dropped entirely.
