Love Is Already There
We all expect to receive love in a specific way. And the funny part is that everybody's expression of love is different. Everyone expresses love in the way they know how to.
Some people express love through words. Some through actions. Some through care. Some through responsibility. Some through presence. Some through sacrifice. And some may love deeply without ever being able to express it in a way that is obvious.
When love is not visible in the form we expect, we tend to conclude that there is no love.
But is that really true?
Love should be accepted in the form in which it is being received. Sometimes it may come through words and not through actions. Sometimes it may not come through words at all. Sometimes its presence may not be obvious in actions either. Yet, it may still be there.
Love needs acceptance. And love needs patience.
The problem begins when we start complaining that there is no love, or that love is not being given to us in the way we want it. That is when life starts becoming miserable.
The moment we begin measuring love against our own concepts and expectations, disappointment follows. Not because love is absent, but because reality does not match the picture we have created in our minds.
The more grateful we become for the love that already exists in our lives, in whatever form it is arriving, the more love we begin to notice. And the more we notice it, the more it seems to flow towards us.
Perhaps the greatest obstacle to experiencing love is our own definition of it.
Drop the concept of "love" that you are carrying in your mind.
Be like a clean slate.
Be like a newborn baby who has no fixed ideas about what love should look like, how it should sound, or how it should be expressed.
Just receive.
And when you do that, you may suddenly discover that love was never missing.
It was there all along.
