The beauty of human differences

Reflections

People are different. And somewhere, we need to deeply understand and accept this simple truth.

Every person’s upbringing is different. Their internal and external influences are different. Their thought process, belief systems, emotional experiences, struggles, fears, and aspirations - everything is different. And because of this, people naturally think, behave, react, and see life differently.

The problem is that we try to place everyone on the same linear scale. We unconsciously create standards in our mind and then either appreciate or blame people depending on whether they match our expectations or not. If someone behaves according to our liking, we praise them. If they don’t, we judge them.

But life doesn’t work that way.

When we look at fruits and vegetables, we don’t compare them unfairly. We don’t expect an orange to taste like an apple or a banana. We know an orange is an orange. Its uniqueness is its beauty.

Then why don’t we extend the same understanding to human beings?

Every person is unique in their own way. And this uniqueness should not merely be tolerated intellectually - it should be accepted with warmth, love, and openness.

We also rarely know what someone is going through internally. A person’s actions are influenced by countless visible and invisible factors. Their childhood, emotional wounds, environment, experiences, fears, insecurities, responsibilities - all of these shape the way they behave.

That is why it is very unfair to pass judgment so quickly or arrive at conclusions based only on someone’s actions.

All I am saying is this:

Differences do not have to be corrected. Differences should be respected. Differences should be accepted.

Because most of the time, there is no absolute right or wrong involved - it is simply a different way of seeing and experiencing life.

Imagine few artists standing at different angles, painting the same scenery. Their paintings will naturally look different. Does that make some wrong and the others right? No. It only means their perspectives are different.

Human beings are exactly like that.

Unfortunately, today people are constantly being weighed on the same scale - the scale of society’s expectations, personal judgments, and fixed conclusions. And perhaps that is one of the saddest things happening in the world today.

Because I genuinely believe that every person is a magic in themselves.

And yet, with our expectations and judgments, we try to force people onto the narrow scale of our own understanding - even though we have never lived their life, walked their path, or experienced their inner reality.

Perhaps true maturity begins when we stop trying to make everyone the same… and start appreciating the beauty in how different we all are.
