The Three Responses of Life
Isn’t it funny that for any opinion, there’s always a portion of the crowd that supports it, a portion that opposes it, and a portion that remains neutral? It doesn’t matter whether the issue is big or small, serious or trivial — you’ll always find these three groups of people.
Take a look around: politics, religion, movies, sports, even what someone wears or eats — there are people cheering, people criticizing, and people who simply don’t care. This is the pattern of life. This is human society.
Now, here’s the catch: if this is always the case, then what’s the point of trying to please everyone? You can’t. Even if you do something good with the purest intention, there will be voices against you. If you sit idle and do nothing, some will still support you!
So the wisest approach is simple: follow your gut. Do what you truly want to do. Because no matter what path you choose, there will always be:
- some who praise you,
- some who criticize you,
- and some who don’t care at all.
This doesn’t mean that those who support are intelligent and those who oppose are foolish or vice versa. Nor does it mean the neutral ones lack depth. It simply proves one thing: this is the nature of life on earth.
The takeaway? Stop living to satisfy everyone else’s expectations. Instead, listen to your inner voice. When you do that, the noise of praise and criticism will no longer shake you. You’ll know that it’s just part of the game of life.
In the end, life is too short to be lived in hesitation. Do what feels authentic to you, knowing very well that the crowd will always be split into three.
