Information and Realisation

Reflections
Friends, this is a very important thing, I am sharing with all of you, today. Would request you to read this till the end :)

Whatever we read, whatever we hear, from our Guru, Spiritual books, Bhagvad Gita, Ashtavakra Gita etc. is nothing but information. We are just a tape recorder. Whatever we come across, we just record it. Ohh! This is so nice! ~ recorded! That is so well said.. ~ recorded! We are doing nothing but storing information. Once, we store the information, we feel we have gained lots of knowledge now. We are happy, ecstatic.. Ohh we are full of knowledge now. And then, from time to time, we hit the 'play' button; and whatever we have recorded, we play it, thinking we know it all! You can relate this with eating food and the next moment puking it all out! That food is not going to help you in any way. Its not going to give you energy/nutrition to your body. So what is missing?

You need to go to the next level. And that level is 'Realisation'. Until you don't realise anything, it will all remain to be an information.

Guru tells you.. 'Don't be a football of others opinion' You say.. 'Yes, don't be a football of others opinion'. Guru says 'Opposite values are complimentary' .. you say 'Yes, Opposite values are complimentary' But do you ask yourself 'why??' Why does Guru say 'don't be a football of others opinion'. 'Why opposite values are complimentary?'. Here, I am not telling you to doubt what the master is saying. I am not telling you to ask 'why' to find out if HE is right or wrong. I am telling you to ask yourself, Why is He saying it? If he is saying these things, there has to be a reason behind this, yes? So just ask yourself, Why? Why opposite values are complimentary. Till you don't get the answers to these questions, you are only storing information; there is no realisation. Don't be a parrot. Don't just blur out things that you have stored. Realise them first.

Today, if I ask someone. What is Shiva? Very effortlessly, they say 'Ohh its the inner beauty!' But have you experienced this? Have you realised the beauty of that inner depth? You are saying it because you 'know' it. It's an information. You read it somewhere or you heard it from someone. If I ask you, What happens when someone dies? You say, yes, for 1st few days, this is what happens.. the sense of touch is gone, we still have the sense of smell, sight.. etc. etc. You know this because you have read it, you have heard about it; but have you realised this?

How to realise things?
To begin with the process of realisation; Information is necessary. You need to KNOW few things, which will take you to the right direction. Sadly, most of us stop walking, we are happy with just the information. We don't even realise, what we are storing is just information, and think we are in knowledge.

So having information is the 1st step. Everyone starts with information. But you need to move on. Move on to the next step of 'Questioning'. Remember, answers will only come to those, who ask. Those who are here to seek, will only find the answers.

Now, what is that you need to ask? And whom to ask?
Take any Knowledge point. Absolutely anything. Take your favourite knowledge point. For eg. Lets take 'Don't be a football of others opinion'. During my AMC with Guruji, this year, our teacher, Swami Vaishampayanji asked us the same thing. He said, if Guruji is telling you: 'Don't be a football of others opinion', then is this not HIS opinion? Then why are you becoming a football of His opinion? After sometime, Swamiji said those magical words - 'Don't go for information; Go for realisation' At that very moment, it was like a bell rang in my head. That very moment, I just realised. It was amazing. A completely new door opened. From that moment, every single thing, I came across has been a realisation!

Only thing you can do is keep asking yourself. Keep asking questions to yourself. Why this? What is the reason? Why He said so? It is like a quest. Beautiful thing about Realisation is that Realisation will not happen in 3 months or 1 year or 5 years. It can happen any moment. Any moment, Realisation can happen. You can't do a thing about it. Only when it has to happen, it will happen.

The biggest realisation is the purpose of Life. What is the purpose of life? We have been given a life, so what is the motive? Why are we here? You won't find the answer to this question, in any book/website; absolutely nowhere. You can only realise this. Who am I? Why am I here? The moment this realisation happens. a new world opens up. Don't focus on anything. Don't focus on enlightenment. Don't focus on realisation, don't focus on words; Just meditate on these questions.

The nature will take its time, but it will answer you :)

Jai Gurudev :)
