Rules of this planet

People will only do what they want to do.

Once a trainer asked our group a question - वो कौन है जिसका हम सबसे ज़्यादा सुनते है ? (To whom do we listen most?) Some replied 'dad, mom, sister and so on...' while the actual answer was our own mind.

We ultimately listen to our own mind.

One might show/say that they are doing something for someone else but ultimately they are doing what they feel is right.

The best way to live your life peacefully is to keep doing what you want to do and to let others do what they want to do. 

Now, this is a very generic statement I have made - not talking about unethical/illegal things here. 

Therefore, to be at peace just mind your own business; and be a guide only when you are asked for guidance.
