Well... Step out of the well
A frog, as long as it stays inside the well, feels affected by every little thing that happens there. Every night, the darkness seems like the end of the world because it remains in the same confined space.
But once the frog climbs out and looks around, it realizes how vast and alive the world truly is. So much is happening all around and in that realization, small things stop bothering it. It also begins to see that, just like everything else in creation, it too is being taken care of.
Similarly, we all live in the dark well of our own thoughts, concepts, likes, dislikes, aversions, and cravings. And somehow, we enjoy being there because our own ideas feel safe and familiar. But along with comfort, this also creates fear. Even a small event can shake us and throw us off balance.
That’s why we need to step out of our own little world. We need to see and appreciate the thinking and perspectives of others as well because every person is unique, and every perception is unique. When we start respecting, admiring, and acknowledging that, our rigid castle of concepts and ideas begins to break.
In the same way, when we visit new places and travel around, we realize how much beauty and creation God has showered everywhere. And slowly, our inner world begins to expand. The more we sit in the same well, the more we strengthen our rigid concepts, ideas, and thoughts and this eventually becomes painful because life is moving ahead while we are still holding on to the same old thought patterns.
Step out of the well...
